RUSSIA - Rita J. Monnin age 89 of Russia, Ohio died Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Brookdale of Troy.
She was born March 13, 1936, in Yorkshire, Ohio to the late Clem & Anna (Zumburge) Knapke. She married Linus Monnin on July 27, 1957, in Versailles. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2016. She is survived by children: Sharon & Jeffrey Wampler, Tipp City, Della & Chris Steinke, Tipp City, Rena & Philip Miller, Tipp City, daughter-in-law Karen Monnin, Troy, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, siblings: Jerry & Joan Knapke, Hamler, Ohio, Vi & Bob Bangasser, Freeport, IL, Eileen Ehlers Leipsic, in-laws: Bill Mann, Sandusky, Elaine Knapke, Kalida, Norma Bensman, Minster. She was preceded in death by sons, Jack Monnin, and Doug Monnin, siblings: Paul Knapke, Mark Knapke, in-laws: Evelyn Monnin CP.P.S., Carl & Doris Monnin. Kathleen & Melvin "Bud" Heuing, Elizabeth Mann, John Ehlers. She was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia. She was a former choir director at St. Remy, a volunteer for the High School Basketball games. She went to The Gathering Place, retired from Clopay and worked at the Russia Inn. She enjoyed gardening, landscaping, at her home on Russia Versailles Rd. and crocheting. She was avid in her Catholic Faith and loved going to St. Remy Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia. Burial will follow at St. Remy Cemetery, Russia. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, December 8, 2025, and from 9 to 10 AM on Tuesday, December 9. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Vitas Palliative Care, Dayton, Ohio. Condolences may be left at www.hogenkampfh.com.
