Maurice Wright Obituary
Maurice Demetrice Wright was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on March 22, 1973, to Mrs. Lynn (James) Wingard and Mr. Allen M. Wright. He departed this life on July 10, 2025, at the age of 52.
Maurice resided in Dayton, Ohio and was the second oldest of six children. He attended Trotwood-Madison High School and graduated on June 5, 1991.
Maurice enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 20 from 1993-1998. He was also employed at The Home Depot in Trotwood, Ohio from 2023-2024, where he was a valued sales employee.
He is preceded in death by his Paternal grandparents, Maurice Moore, Dorine Wright, and James S. & Christine R. Wingard. His Maternal grandparents, Margaret P. Cunningham and Arthur D. Jones Sr., and aunts Portia Childs and Cleo Belline.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother Linda D. Wingard of Lebanon, KY, father, Allen M. Wright of El Paso, TX, and devoted stepfather James G. Wingard of Lebanon, KY, siblings Twana Wright of Columbus, OH, Anthony (Gabby) Wright of Albuquerque, NM, Andrew Wright of Navarre, FL, James (Leslie) Wingard III of North Wales, PA and Matthew (Jemia) Wingard of La Vergne, TN. 4 nieces: Jalen S. Carpenter, Ji'Mia Wingard, Peyton Wright, Zoe Wingard, 4 nephews: Gregory (Vonshay) Sheppard, Julian Wright, Lucian Wright, Ellis Wingard, 2 great nieces: Aubree and Noelle Sheppard and other relatives and many great friends and coworkers.
Maurice's strength, sincerity, and unmistakable presence will be deeply missed within his family and around the Trotwood and Dayton communities.
Funeral services will be held on Monday August 4, 2025, at Donald Jordan Memorial Chapel, 4882 Germantown Pike, Dayton, Ohio 45417, with Reverend J.D. Grigsby JR officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 11:00 am with services to begin promptly at Noon. Flowers, donations, and condolences can be made at Donald Jordan Memorial Chapel. The family wishes to express gratitude for all the love and prayers during this time.
Maurice will be laid to rest at 2:00 pm at The Dayton National Cemetery located at the Dayton V.A. Medical Center, 4400 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio.
