Graves, Mavis G

Mavis G. Graves, 85, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, December 20th, 2024 at Brookdale Buck Creek. She was born September 27th, 1939 in Murphy, NC the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Thelma Mae Gaddis. Mavis was very active in the church community especially with Maranatha Baptist Church where she attended for 40 years. She retired after 25 years from the Mueller Center where she was a bookkeeper. Mavis was happiest when with family and caring for her grandchildren. Mavis is survived by her children: Bill (Ok Chong) Graves, Debbie Shrewsberry, and Mike (Brenda) Graves; siblings: Alice Wilt, Lucille Brigner, Chris (Tom) Mustar, Dean (Kathy) Gaddis and Darrel Gaddis; nine grandchildren: Kimberly Graves, William (Joscelyn) Graves, Mary Graves, Andrew (Trisha) Shrewsberry, Joshua (Michelle) Shrewsberry, Ryan (Heather) Graves, Jared (Brandi) Graves, Kaitlyn (Keith) Bailey and Tessa (Tre Smith) Graves; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mavis is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bill B. Graves; siblings: Ben Gaddis, Cecil Gaddis, Bruce Gaddis and Darlene Rice. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 26th, 2024 from 12-1 p.m. at Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, Springfield. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Online expressions of sympathy may be made at www.littletonandrue.com.
