P. Fedders Obituary

Fedders, P. Daniels

Judge P. Daniel Fedders, age 87, of Franklin, Ohio passed away in his home on January 20, 2025 surrounded by his wife Carol and family. He was born January 28, 1937 to Mary Elizabeth (Hanses) Fedders and Joseph Henry Fedders. Dan was a lifelong resident of Franklin, Ohio and lifelong parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Dan attended St. Aloysius Academy, Holy Trinity School, St. Gregory Seminary and then graduated from Fenwick High School in 1955. At Fenwick, Dan secured the first trophy in the school's history as the winner of a regional oratorical contest. Dan was also captain of the football team. Dan eventually became the first inductee in the Fenwick Hall of Achievement.

Dan attended Villa Madonna College (now Thomas More University), the University of Dayton, and the University of Notre Dame. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and was admitted to the practice of law in 1961.

Beginning in 1961, Dan was associated with the law firm of Tracy & Tracy in West Carrollton and Franklin. In 1966, he established his own law practice in Franklin as well as served as Law Director for the City of Franklin and for the Village of Springboro, Assistant County Prosecutor for Warren County and Judge for the Miami River Conservancy Court.

In January of 1971, Ohio Governor James A. Rhodes appointed Dan to the bench of the Warren County Common Pleas Court. He was consistently re-elected to the position and served continuously for 32 years until his retirement from full-time service in 2003. Dan continued in part-time service for 8 more years hearing trials in multiple area counties. Judge Fedders was honored by the Ohio Supreme Court on several occasions. In 2002, Judge Fedders was honored by the Miami Valley Trial Lawyers Association as its Common Pleas Judge of the Year. The Warren County Bar Association honored Judge Fedders in 2011 as the epitome of judicial integrity, honesty and competence. In 2014, the University of Cincinnati College of Law Alumni Association named Judge Fedders as a Distinguished Alumni.

Throughout the course of his law practice and service on the bench, Dan was an active member of several community organizations. He served as Director of Franklin Public Library for 13 years and was a member of the Franklin Optimist Club since 1967. He was a founder of the Franklin Pee Wee Football Association. Dan served as a Planning Board Member and a Board Member of the Community Correction Center in Warren County. Over the years he served St. Mary's Church in numerous capacities, beginning as an alter boy, directing religious education and most recently as a Pastoral Council Member.

Dan and his wife Carol married on September 7, 1957. The primary focus of their life together has been family, friends and religion. Dan was a straight-forward and loving father, amazing grandfather and a teddy bear great-grandfather. The list of people that have not had a dinner or a great time at the Fedders house is likely shorter than the list of people that have been there. Dan encouraged every guest to his farm to stay for dinner. For nearly 50 years he also offered a cat to every guest. His humor, amazing memory, love of history, sharp wit and story-telling skills were enjoyed by everyone. Dan particularly enjoyed his fun relationships with all of his grandchildren.

Dan is survived by Carol (Enright), his wife of 67 years; six children Andy (Karen Clemens), Jim Fedders (Joni Mansfield), Matt Fedders (Alisa Kern), David Fedders (Jennifer Holowecky), Colleen Elliott (Brad Elliott) and Chuck Fedders (Holly Meyer); nineteen grandchildren Lauren Healey (Bobby Healey), Beau Fedders (Charlotte Williams), Annie Fedders (Mason Round), Danielle Fedders, Nick Fedders, Jake Fedders (Emily Rice), Ethan Fedders, Luke Fedders, Kevin Fedders, Mitchell Fedders, Lexi Fedders, Sam Fedders, Braeden Fedders, Justin Fedders, Cara Elliott, Sally Fedders, Tank Fedders, Connor Elliott, and Tia Fedders; and three great-grandchildren Frank Fedders, James Healey and Cassidy Fedders. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings Mary Agnes Holthaus, Frank Fedders, and Al Fedders.
