Patricia ATHMER Obituary

ATHMER, Patricia A. "Pat" Age 83, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away in the early morning hours of January 26, 2018. She was born in Dayton on March 8, 1934, the daughter of Lawrence and Mabel Doyle, and was a graduate of Julienne High School, Class of 1952. She had been married 43 years to Merle Athmer, who passed away in 1999. Pat is also preceded in death by her parents, her five brothers and sisters and their spouses, and, just two weeks ago, her son David. She is survived by her children Mike (Sally), Dan (Linda), Chris (Anne), Nancy (David) Schmidt, Mary Jo (Chris) Marcum, and daughter-in-law Cathy. She enjoyed ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and the number continues to grow. Pat was also "Aunt Annie" to many nieces and nephews. Married in Dayton in 1955, Pat and Merle spent many years in Fenton, Michigan, in a neighborhood of young families who shared life-long friendships, summer pool parties, and late-night card games. They moved back to Dayton in 1975 and were active members of St. Charles Church in Kettering. Pat became a fan of UD basketball and Elsa's Bad Juans. She was an avid reader, enjoyed winter trips to Florida and hosting grandchildren at her pool, and loved meeting Julienne friends for breakfast and reunions. Pat had a quick wit that brought laughter to family, friends, and in recent years, to caregivers at Carlyle House. Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45429. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45429. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alzheimer's Association, Hospice of Dayton, or any organization you feel appropriately honors Pat's life.
