News Death Notice

DESIMIO, Peter James "Pete" age 87 of Fairborn, died Friday June 21, 2013. He was born on November 28, 1925 in Warren Ohio, son of the late Domenick and Philomena (Flask) DeSimio. He was a loving and generous son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He worked as a structural engineer for Timber Structures in Portland Oregon; the Lockheed Skunk Works in Burbank CA, and the Wright Laboratories Sensor Evaluation Center at Wright-Patterson AFB OH. He was especially proud of his work on the U-2 and SR-71 "Blackbird". Pete was a lifelong gardener, cook, and photographer and an enthusiastic bridge player. He was also an avid fan of Notre Dame football, good music - especially big bands - and snappy dialogue. He was an active volunteer at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, and wife of 58 years, Patricia (Harmon). He is survived by children John, Carol Loock, Christopher (Sheila), James, Thomas, and Martin (Terese); 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother Charles (Mary) of Winchester VA; sister Mary (John) Mayer of Alliance OH, Frances (Paschal) Cipriano of Centerville OH, and Bernadette (Michael) Willey of Baytown TX. A memorial celebration will be held at the Fairborn Holiday Inn (2800 Presidential Drive) from 12 - 2 pm on 11 July. Burial will be held privately at St Anthony Cemetery in Weir KS.
