BENSMAN, Richard J. 86 of Minster, passed away Wed., May 21, 2008 at his residence. Born March 26, 1922 in Minster to Louis & Caroline (Lampert) Bensman). Mrs. Bensman was employed at I E Industries Minster, Ace Wholesalers & Dist., Sidney; Owner & Operator Bruckens Bar, Ft. Loramie; Editor & Photographer, Minster Post; Dayton Daily News Circulation Dept. He served in the US Marine Corp. as a Corporal in WWII, was a member of St., Augustine Church, Ft. Loramie & Minster America Legion, Minster & Ft. Loramie Fire Depts., Minster Eagles FOE 1391, Past Commander Minster VFW in 1947, St. Augustine Cemetery Bd; past Grand Marshal Minster okto- Fest Parade; Past Minster Civic Assoc., Citizen of the Year, Officer Buckeye Boy & Girls State Assoc., Honorary Member of Minster Boy & Girl Scouts, Honorary FFA Member. He was on the Board of Public Affairs, Minster. He was an avid local Sports Booster. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Marianna Gerwels whom he married Dec. 15, 1945 in Dayton; sister & her husband Ruth & Joseph Buschur, 2 grandchildren. Survived by 10 children & spouses: Connie & Ed Sanders of Ft. Loramie, Carol & Ralph Fleckenstein of Ft. Loramie, Chuck & Mary Jo Bensman of Minster, Kathy & Ed Schroer of Conroe, TX, Nancy & Roy Tompkins of Paignton, England, Jim & Deb Bensman of Minster, Patty & Kurt Warner of New Bremen, Susan & Mike Burns of Greenville, OH, Mary Jane & Curt DeLoye of Ft. Loramie, Richard Bensman, Jr., of Cincinnati; 1 sister Dorothy Smith of Minster, 1 brother-in-law Charles Gerwels of Goshen, IN; 30 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren. Funeral service 9:30am Saturday at St. Augustine Church with Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial St. Augustine. Visitation 4 til 8 Friday at Hogenkamp, Minster. Full military honors at the Graveside by Minster & Ft. Loramie Firing Squads.
