I met Dick the first time at Fort Rowdy in Covington Ohio about 10 years ago. I found him to be a very interesting person and incredibly talented. I always admired his very detailed carvings that I saw on various knife handles, pieces of period jewelry, neckerchief slides etc. I had the honor of enjoying a few cups of coffee with him at Buffalo Jacks on Sunday mornings. I enjoyed talking art with him. There was no doubt he was the most incredibly talented carver I have met. I will miss seeing any of his new works but will always enjoy the pieces my friends have of the work he has done in the past. Dick is a special person and he will be missed by us all. We will all be together someday and I will look forward to sitting with you Dick and having a hot cup of coffee and seeing your latest carving work and talking about knives.
