News Death Notice

DAVIES, Rick (1950-2013), Roderick "Rick" Davies passed away peacefully in Palo Alto, CA on July 11, 2013 at the age of 62. Born in Dayton, OH, he obtained a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1972, a PhD from Stanford University in 1977, and an MBA from Southern Methodist University in 1986. He had a long and successful career in the semiconductor industry, working at Xerox PARC (Palo Alto, CA), Texas Instruments (Dallas, TX), International Rectifier (El Segundo, CA), Vishay Siliconix (Santa Clara, CA) and several smaller companies. Rick and his wife Gina were married for 39 years, living in Los Altos, CA since 1999. He enjoyed swimming, taking long walks with his dog Buddy and managing home improvement projects. Rick was a warm, loving and devoted family man. He is survived by Gina, their daughters Kimberly and Carolyn, his brother Tim, and his son-in-law Jack. A memorial celebration for Rick will be held at 1:00pm on July 20 at Los Altos United Methodist Church. Donations in his memory may be made to Los Altos Relay For Life.

Rick was a great guy to work with; his knowledge and experience in power semiconductors was extensive and he was always there with friendly advice. I'll really miss getting together with him for lunch a few times a year, comparing notes on the state of the power semi industry and our investments. :-)
