Ruby Mannick Obituary

News Death Notice

MANNICK, Ruby Hept 89, of Escondido, CA, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2009. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Mannick; her parents, William and L. Ruth Hept; her brothers, Ralph and Robert Hept; and her sister Florence Jones. Ruby was born January 29, 1920 in Dayton, Ohio. She married Hal Mannick in August of 1940. He was the love of her life for 51 years. They lived in Vandalia, Ohio until 1958 when they moved to Hagerstown, Maryland. The FAA kept them moving to Bethesda, Maryland, Atlanta, GA and Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. They loved CA so much they retired in Escondido, CA in 1977. Ruby was an avid golfer and member of the Escondido Country Club until she was 82. She was an artist, painting portraits of her son and her dog Fluffy, landscapes of places they visited and beautiful murals in her homes. She and Hal loved to travel in their motorhome to enjoy other golf courses and numerous state and national parks. She loved taking care of her family, and her love, kindness and wit will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren. Ruby's peaceful nature and the ability to see only the best in others, will be remembered by all who knew her. Her "special" sugar cookie recipe will be passed down but the cookies will never be as good as Grandma's. She added just the right amount of love. Ruby is survived by her son, Larry (Michelle) Mannick, of DeBary. FL: daughter Brenda Marteney, West Covina, CA; and grandchildren Nicole Mannick, Krista Pizzi, Brittney Marteney and Brent Marteney. Please join the family on Friday, September 11, 2009 from 1pm to 1:30 pm at the Chapel at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens for short visitation with a graveside service immediately following. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
