Hi Tony:
You probably don't remember me (Fannie) but I work for Cheryl R. Washington. I just now found out about your father, and I am sorry for your loss. I remember "Roy" as a "Ray" of sunshine everytime he came to the office, he was just the funniest man I had ever met. I am sure going to miss him around this city. Take care of yourself and your family. Be strong, and be encouraged. Even though the services are over, doesn't mean the grief is. Remember to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Tony, We just wanted to tell you how sorry we were to hear about your dad. Roy was a very special person and we are are honored that we had the chance to know him. We will treasure those memories of him setting down at the pond fishing. Every time Chad and Chelsea seen him pull in they headed down to talk to Roy. Chad's favorite saying was fish for rib's! Jimmy cooked ribs for Chad one time and he used lighter fluid on the grill that didn't need lighter fluid. Chad told Jimmy they were the worst ribs he had ever ate. Roy just laughed when he heard that story. It is was always nice when Roy came out to fish because he truly loved just setting around fishing and talking to us and we will miss seeing him setting down there. You take care and know that we are thinking of you and your family. The Neff Family

Uncle Roy was very important to me. He was apart of the reason I decided to leave the gang activity alone. I love and will miss you dearly and I am very proud to call myself Hooks, knowing you carried the name and legacy so well.

To Tony & all the Hooks family & friends,
We grieve with you in the loss of our beloved S'Anda Roy. He was special to us and we loved him dearly. From the beginning he was an important member of the famous Roth H.S. Class of 1965. He was a hard worker who preferred the background and shunned the spotlight. He helped so many of us in so many ways. He was so generous. His warm heart and laughter will remain with us always. May he now rest from his pain and enjoy the fruits of his labors. We will never forget him and his memories will stay with us forever. Falcons Forever...Roth 65

Allow the comfort that can only come from knowing the Living God. I regret your loved one going before you. Since my daughter of 16 went before me, I know your sorrow and your grief. Know that God is able to keep you in this time. I did not know Mr. S'Anda Hooks personally, however, his brother, Curtis has spoken such loving and proud things about him, I feel that I have missed one of the great children of God. Please do not think of Mr. S'Anda as a loss, only gone before us. Be blessed.

I recently met Mr. Hooks and learned that he was from the same area of Alabama as my family. We had a great conversation and I became very fond of him in that short time. My life was enriched by knowing him. My heartfelt prayers go out to Tony and the entire Hooks family. Whenever I eat Hooks BarBQ (which I eat quite often) I will think of the great S'Anda Hooks. Be strong and of good courage, God will take care of you.

I loved you more than you will ever know. I know that I have told you, but words cannot say what I feel, and have felt for so long. You have been there for me my entire life, and I will miss you for the rest of the life that God allows me. If there were something that I could do to spend just a little more time with you, I would. I feel that I wasted so much time that I could have applied to our relationship while you were here, but I know that you have gone to have breakfast with Jesus, and one day, I will be there also.
I love you.

S'Anda Hooks will be missed (never forgotten) as a friend and as our Roth classmate of 1965. He was a very kind person with a giving heart and warm smile. He was helpful and supported us as we planned our class reunions (provided a meeting place for one of reunions and provided his delicious barbeque and food for our picnic). My thoughts and prayers are lifted up for the family. God Bless

The family has also provided excellent food and friendly service, qualities that are rare in these days. Please know that the city of Dayton shares in your loss. We will be praying for your family in these difficult days. Remember that He who provides all will provide comfort when you need it most. Mr. Hooks will I am sure be cooking up BBQ bologna sandwiches for angels now! May God bless and comfort your family.
