Sandra Jung Obituary

Jung (Shaw), Sandra Lee "Sandy"

Sandy Jung passed after a well-lived life on December 29, 2024 – she was 86 years old. She was born in Springfield, Ohio, and suffered the early loss of her father to divorce. However, she was profoundly blessed to have enter into her life the loving care of her "new" father, Richard Caton, who with her mother Vera, taught her to be strong, independent, and caring – traits that would serve her throughout her life. She graduated from Springfield High School and attended the University of Miami (Ohio) where she met her husband to be (Rex Jung Sr.). While their marriage did not last, they had two boys, Rex Jr. and Erik who remain fiercely devoted to their mother, who is their inspiration and aspiration for all that is strong and good and caring in this life. She began work in Boulder, Colorado, as switchboard operator at the Boulder School District. When you called the main number during snowstorms, to find out if schools were closed (still 447-1010), Sandy would answer. She rose to Assistant to the Superintendent, then moved to higher and always higher jobs, and finished her career as a Technical Writer at IBM. She was a gifted and highly creative quilter who showed (and won awards for) her quilts at numerous shows around the State and region. She loved horses, cats, and all animals. She loved chocolate. She is survived by her sister Denise, her brother Doug, her sons Rex Jr. and Erik, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was smart, caring, stubborn, creative, and fiercely independent – we loved her for all of these attributes. She asked that her ashes be scattered in Allenspark, Colorado, where she enjoyed many quilting retreats with her many friends. We will miss her.
