News Death Notice

STANLEY, Sasha Ann Hire 77, of Syracuse, IN passed away on May 28, 2011 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. She was born on June 23, 1933 in Syracuse, IN to Millard "Cy" & Ann L. (Stover) Hire. On October 19, 1958, she married Karol Stanley, who survives. She was a lifelong area resident, having lived in Beavercreek, OH for 40 years as well. She was a research Librarian for the Dayton Daily News. She also taught piano from her home for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the American Legion #223 in Syracuse, Society of Mayflower Descendants, Daughters of the American Revolution, National Rifle Association, Ham Radio Operators - her call sign was NA8H. She was a graduate of Indiana University, where she was a member of the Phi Mu sorority. She is survived by her Husband - Karol Stanley of Syracuse. 3 Sons - Jeff (Nancy) Stanley, of Springboro, OH, Kevin Stanley of Beavercreek, OH and Mark (Lisa) Stanley of Syracuse. 2 daughters - Kristin Keyer of Beavercreek, OH and Karlynne Akos of Destin, FL. 1 brother - Millard "Stover" Hire of Syracuse. 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and 2 nieces. Services were Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Eastlund Funeral Home with pastor David Herr of the Calvary United Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed at Syracuse Cemetery.
