Sonia BAKER

1937 - 2017

BAKER, Sonia A. 79, of Springfield, passed away Saturday morning, May 6, 2017 at Oakwood Village. Sonia was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana October 27, 1937; her parents were Joe and Mary James. She and her family moved to Orlando, Florida where she graduated from Boone High School. She married Roger in 1959 and was a fantastic and loving partner for over 57 years. 3 children arrived over the next several years: John, Nancy (Lyons), and Jason. She was a wonderful mother and devoted her life to their care and nurture. They remember her as loving, caring, unwavering and ornery. She is Mom. She enjoyed traveling on Amtrak and with friends. She was very involved in the affairs of High Street United Methodist Church. She also loved her flower gardening. Besides her children, she is survived by a sister Marsha (Bob) Kelley of Orlando, Nancy's husband, Joe Lyons and five grandchildren, Sam Doyle, Grace Doyle, Chase Baker, Sophie Doyle and Taylor Baker. The family truly appreciates the support of the members of High Street Church and the wonderful care she was given by the entire staff of Oakwood Village. LITTLETON & RUE will provide the final care with calling hours at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 9 from 5 to 8 p.m., and the funeral at High Street Church on May 10 at 11:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to High Street United Methodist Church/Choir fund or United Methodist Women.
