Stephen Dix Obituary
Stephen Reed Dix, 77, of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025. Born on July 19, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio, Steve lived a life defined by dedication to family, community, and competition.
Steve earned a full football scholarship to Miami University of Oxford, displaying both remarkable athletic talent and fierce determination. Steve went on to serve his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, exemplifying courage and dedication. Later in life, Steve went on to co-own a bar with one of his brother-in-arms. He named it the Dawg House as a tribute to his years of being a West Milton Bulldog. But of all his accomplishments, Steve was most proud of raising his three children-Jennifer Brown, Nathan Dix, and Philip Dix-with his beloved wife of 28 years, Susanne Denlinger.Steve enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and spending time at home with family. He especially loved being active in any sport. Whether as a participant or as a spectator in the stands, sports were a great passion of his.
Steve's big-hearted spirit was evident in Tipp City, where he devoted countless hours to Tipp City Junior Baseball when coaching teams, training youth umpires, and maintaining fields. Known for his larger-than-life personality and his willingness to befriend anyone, Steve never knew a stranger and was always ready for conversation. You knew Steve was in his element during these chats when you'd hear a boisterous "oh me, oh my".
He is survived by his children: Jennifer Brown (Brett Brown) and their children, Chelsea and Rheegan, Nathan Dix (Corey Dix) and their children, Logan, Philip and Reed, and Philip Dix (Tiffany Dix) and their children, Ty and Eliza, and his brother Rick Dix and cherished extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Catherine Dix, and his sister Georgia.
Military funeral honors will be held at Dayton National Cemetery on October 3rd at 11 a.m. Steve's enduring message remains: Family comes first.
