Family-Placed Obituary

LANNING, Stephen J. age 53 of Fairborn died Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: William and Velma Lanning maternal grandparents: Edward and Myrtle Blaum, aunt Evelyn Hill, uncle Eldon Lanning and mother-in-law: Betty E. Rector. He is survived by his wife Becky (Kouse) Lanning, father James C. Lanning of Fairborn mother Jean Burke of Dayton and daughters: Kristine Swanson and husband Rich of Oregon, Heather Kouse of Troy, Oh., and Erica (Kouse) Deaville and husband Joshua of Troy, Oh., sister Suzanne Lanning of Columbus, uncle Bob Hill and Aunt Edna (Lanning) Carmean. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Steve was a former member of Fairborn United Methodist Church and he attended Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church in Tipp City. He owned and operated Repeat Performance in Vandalia. A funeral service will be held at MORRIS SONS FUNERAL HOME 104 W. Main St, Fairborn on Saturday, September 4 at 10 a.m., Rev. Ohmer Swart officiating. Burial will follow at Medway Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Steve was a very special man who left a great impression on everyone he met. He will be truly missed by all his business acquaintances, family and friends whom he dearly loved.

I only met Steve once that I know of and he seemed like a great guy, his father was at one time my boss at Mapleview.. and we sq. danced in later years. My condolence go out to you and your family

I have known Steve for over 15 years and will miss his friendly personality! I have never met another as nice and caring as Steve. I imagine him in Heaven taking care of God himself, thats what kind of person Steve was. Celebrate his life, he was worth it! Bonnie Roberts
