Steven E. RICHARDS

1962 - 2018

RICHARDS, Steven E. 55 of Springfield passed away February 4, 2018 in the Ohio State University Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 6, 1962, the son of Don and Judy Richards. Steve was a 1980 graduate of Southeastern High School. He was working as a driver and tech with Suburban Propane for the past 13 years. Most of us work to live, Steve lived to work. He was also an avid fisherman and animal lover. He enjoyed camping, traveling and was head coach with the Peewee football program in South Charleston for 9 years, ending in 2002. The kids still call him coach when they would see him out. Steve had a passion of being behind the wheel and was known as a people person. When he had some spare time he loved watching the Animal Planet and Discovery Channel. Above all Steve loved his grandbabies. Steve was preceded in death by his father Don Richards ; maternal and paternal grandparents Leroy and Miriam Gillenwater, and Don and Marie Richards, and father-in-law Budd Russell. Survivors include his mother Judy Richards; wife Amy Richards, whom he married June 19, 1982; children Amber Webb and Shelby (Brittany) Richards; sister Rita (Mike) Smith; grandchildren Hailey, Kade and Landon; mother-in-law Lila Russell; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Services to honor Steve will be Saturday at 10:30AM in the Memorial Home with Rev. Gene Kelly officiating. Burial to follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. A meal will be served after burial at Midwest Ohio banquet hall at 326 Dayton Avenue, Springfield.
