Steven Summers Obituary

News Death Notice

SUMMERS, Steven age 60 of Bellbrook, beloved husband, father and friend, died suddenly on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Steve loved his family and friends above everything in his life. He was cantankerous in a humorous way and lived his life to the fullest. Steve loved to cook, eat, garden, golf, collect cars and entertain friends and family. They were married for 38 happy years. Preceded in death by his son, Joel M. Summers; father, Jack L. Summers; sister-in-law, Priscilla Swab; nephew, Stuart Smith; grand niece, Jessica Cook and mother and father-in-law, Victor and Mary Jane Smith. What a sad loss for all who knew Steve and everyone in his family. I know him for about 12 years because that's where I took my car. He was honest, reliable, trustworthy, kind and fair. Everyone who knew him will miss him very much for a long long time. To the family: I have read every guest book entry and it's obvious he was a wonderful person dedicated to his family and friends. One time he told me he still might go back to college as he always wanted to be a lawyer (I think he said "lawyer.") God bless him richly and all his family.

Hi Terry,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I call Cindy every year for her birthday and she told me the sad news. I know that there are no words that can take away your pain. But I know that Steve touch a lot of people’s lives by helping them out. I will always remember Steve for helping me when I had a problem with my car or tires. It was either Steve or Jack that was there to help me. Steve had a wonderful sense of humor and he could always put a smile on your face. Our thoughts and Prayers are with you and your family.
With all our love,
Lori Gaccetta Tygerson

Dear Terry, David, Glenna, Doug, Cindy, Janet and family,
The news brought back a lot of memories: days at CHS, pretty Alter girls, the house on McEwen Road, Sarge chasing me to the hood of my car, getting tires in the 'Burg, the Smith place on E. Franklin, AxeMen, parties, we were kids and Steve was a buddy.
I pulled out the '67 Elkonian and looked at the Summers Tire ad with Yeck, Clark, Doug, Steve and me. I actually remember cruising down to Miamisburg for that photo.
Best man at my wedding and caused a little delay when he was MIA when the pictures were to be taken. Seems he was off decorating my '70 Beetle, had a knack for knowing what was really important.
I pray that you find peace in this time of loss.

To the Summers Family,
We came to know Steve through his father, Jack, a neighbor of ours. We recognized Steve's good qualities immediately. He always had a kind word and a warm smile for us when we would deliver our car for maintenance. He was the best....honest, dependable, and a good and caring person. Our deepest sympathies are extended to each and every member of the family.

We are at a loss for words ,we as everyone else loved Steve and will miss every aspect of his character .I would always have something to call my husband and tell him after seeing Steve at the shop ....always had a great story and always spoke of his family . He would even have our 4 year old grand daughter Elizabeth laughing (and always offered her a dougnut to get her more hyped up,he loved watching her run around in circles). He will be missed by all .Our deepest sympathy goes out to you his family .

My condolences to Steve's family! Most might know that Steve and I were very good friends. I saw Steve only three weeks ago, and we both spoke of each others prior years of youth and good health! We also joked of each others gray hair and how we ran up and down the basketball court in search of the winning shot! Steve was a winner! Steve will always be in my memories with laughter and smiles at my jokes.
Steve was my friend in life and I am proud to say it to the world.
