Family-Placed Obituary

ELLING, Sue Struble 62, died Monday, July 16, 2007 at home with her family by her side. She was born in Key West, FL on September 19, 1944. Soon after, her family moved to Findlay, OH where she grew up. Sue was the daughter of the late George C. Struble and Mary Lou Struble. She graduated from Findlay High School, Ohio State University and got her Masters in Educational Administration from Wright State University. She married Stephen R. Elling on August 20, 1966. They lived in the Dayton, OH area for over 30 years and raised two sons. Sue taught high school English for 13 years and served as the Executive Director of the Alliance for Education for 16 years. She helped start one of the first Charter Schools in the state of Ohio. She was an active volunteer including a term as President of the Junior League of Dayton. Sue and Steve moved to Hilton Head, SC in 1999 where she spent four years as an administrator in the Beaufort County School system. Most recently, she was the Executive Director of Human Resources. She was an active member of Providence Presbyterian Church. Sue is survived by her husband Stephen of 41 years; two sons, Rev. Andrew C. Elling and daughter-in-law, Jennifer, of Cedarville, OH, and Jared B. Elling and daughter-in-law, Lilibet, of Chapel Hill, NC; one sister, Sherry St. Clair of Hilton Head; five grandchildren: Emily, Jackson, Jimy, Eden and Conner. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Providence Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Sue's honor to Cedarville United Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 52, Cedarville, OH 45314, Hospice Care of the Low Country, P. O. Box 24158, Hilton Head Island, SC 29925, or Providence Presbyterian Church, 171 Cordillo Parkway, Hilton Head, SC. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

Steve , Bruce and I are sadden hearing of the death of Sue! She was a wonderful friend and we enjoyed our time with her through the Junior League of Dayton and house boating with all The Slanker crew. Please know our thoughts and prayers our with you!
