Sue Ott Obituary

Ott (Dale), Sue Ann

OTT, Sue Ann

(1937–2025)

Sue Ann Ott, age 88, of Centerville (formerly Englewood), passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025. Born on August 3, 1937, in Dayton, Ohio, Sue spent her early years in Northridge and graduated from Northridge High School. She continued her education at the University of Dayton, where she earned her teaching degree.

Sue dedicated much of her professional life to educating others, spending many years teaching at Trotwood-Madison Schools and tutoring elementary students in her home. A lifelong educator, she was deeply committed to the success of the children she taught, and she carried that same passion into her own family's life.

Outside of her career, Sue was a devoted fan of Cincinnati Reds baseball and never missed a game. She was also an avid viewer of General Hospital, never failing to keep up with the drama of Port Charles.

Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Charles Joseph Ott (2020). She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through her three children, Kathy Doherty (Steve), Carol Contardi, and Tom Ott (Amy); and her eight grandchildren, Ryan Doherty (Sarah), Sean Doherty (Leticia), Jeremy Contardi, Courtney Contardi, Hannah Contardi, Emily Mirgon (Brandon), Jessica Ott (fiancé Andrew Rose), and Rachel Patton (David). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Alex, Michael, and Abigail.

Sue will always be remembered for her infectious sense of humor, her warmth, and her one-of-a-kind whistle, which brought joy to those around her. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured love and devotion into every moment spent with them.

Sue donated her body to Wright State University's Anatomical Gift Program. A memorial service will be held at a later date where she will be interred at David's Cemetery in Kettering. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Bethany Village, where Sue received compassionate care in her final years from a dedicated staff who became like an extended family Graceworks Compassion Fund (https://graceworks.org/support/donate/).

Sue's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
