GREGORY, William "Bill"

83, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2022. He was born on May 16, 1939, in Springfield, the son of the late William C. and Edna (Doughman) Gregory. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice (Bangart)

Gregory, his daughters: Amy Gregory Wynn and Heidi

Gregory Donnellan; four grandchildren: Ashley (Dillard) Light, Evan and Ian Donnellan, and Joey Wynn; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Holden Light; siblings Terry (Theresa) Gregory, and sister-in-law Rosemary Gregory and Pat Gregory. Bill was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Todd, twin brothers Ronald and Donald Gregory, sister Sue (Jim) Davis, and Aunt Betty Dillahunt. He was a graduate of Tecumseh High School where he held the record for the longest punt return for many years. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy. Throughout his life he worked as a general contractor finishing his career as the Springfield City Building Inspector. Bill was a lifelong Christian and enjoyed reading the bible. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Services will be held on Friday, May 27th at 12:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Livestreaming through Littleton & Rue's Facebook page will begin at the time of service. Burial with military honors will follow in the Ferncliff Cemetery. The legacy of Bill's kind spirit, passion for sports, love of reading, and witty sense of humor will continue to live on through his children and grandchildren.
