BUCHANAN, Sr., Mr. Willie James "The Jeweler", age 76, of Trotwood, Ohio, passed away December 29, 2011. Born in Gainesville, Alabama and a resident of Dayton for the majority of his life. The owner of B & B Jewelry and Manufacturing with 55 years of service. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Willie was a member of Amer Tempel 107 for over 30 years. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin "Kale" Buchanan. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Willie J. Buchanan Jr., Reginal (Carla) & Tranel (Melanie) Hawkins; daughters, Dorine and Sobra J. Buchanan, Dowyell Buchanan- Thomas, & Corine Knight; stepdaughter, Corinthia Buchanan- Williams; sister, Sharon Buchanan; 20 grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 3300 W. Third St. Rev. Lawrence and Rev. Marya Long officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Visitation 9 am Saturday at the church until the time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Arrangements entrusted to the HOUSE OF WHEAT Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Sorry to hear about Mr. Willie's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. I enjoyed the 15 years we shared as friends, and he will always have a place in my heart. As I read the names of the family members, I remembered some of the life episodes pertaining to those names.

To Ms. Janet, Reggie "Carla", Tranel and Dowyell my eyes filled with tears, as I looked at the picture of Mr. Buchanan. I shall always remember the fond memories of growing up together, those easter egg hunts in the backyard. All the card games are parents played, as we enjoyed each others company. To Reggie, sorry Bro I will not be able to attend the service. I have a lot of great memories from little league baseball to our adult life. Mr. Buchanan was always the same. We are so blessed to have so many positive Black Men (role models) in our life. From Mr. Norwood, Mr. Cox, Mr. Thornton, Mr. Byars, Mr. Nichols and Mr. Buchanan. Mr. B had a Style of his owned he will be missed. My prayers are with you and the family.

Some 30 years ago, I purchased a pair of diamond earrings from Elder-Beerman (I worked downtown then) & my friend who worked in fine jewelry suggested I take them directly to B&B to have screw backs put on them, instead of having EB do it because he's who they sent jewelry to for work to be done. Thus began a friendship with Willie that lasted many years. I always appreciated his sense of humor, but especially his honesty & fairness in his business dealings. I haven't worked downtown since 2004; but, it's strange because I recently found an appraisal he did for me & I wondered if he was still in business, etc, especially during these tough economic times. I'm very sorry to learn of his death; but, I'm sure he'll keep all the gold polished & looking its best in heaven. My sincere sympathy to his family on the loss of such a nice man, whom I remember as my friend.
