Alice Mae, daughter of Alpha and Tempe Merle (McCann) Bundy, was born October 10, 1925, at Lake Fremont Township, near Huntington, MN. The family lived in rural Spirit Lake, IA, and Alice attended North Superior School until it closed. She graduated in 1943 following one year at Spirit Lake High School.
On July 5, 1945, Alice was united in marriage with Donald "Tiny" Blom at Jackson, MN. They farmed for many years in the Harris and Lake Park areas, and in 1965 they moved to Everly where they owned and operated a sundry store. After two years they moved to Manilla where they started Tiny's Grocery Store. Tiny died suddenly in 1995, and a few years later Alice retired from the store.
Alice was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Weaver's group. She was active in the Friendly Farmers and Birthday Club. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and quilting following her retirement. Alice's grand and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.
When her health began to decline Alice moved to the Manilla Manor nursing home in 2013. She died there on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 2 days.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents; husband Tiny Blom; infant son Tiny Blom, Jr.; and sisters-in-law Hazel Bundy and Florence Blom.
Alice is survived by her son John Blom (Deb) of Manilla; daughter Patty Tesch (Arv) of Everly; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren: Julie Meneough (P.J.) of Manilla and Molly, Raine and Audrey; Jill Vollstedt (Ron) of Manilla; John Blom (Joy) of Manilla and Dane and Brody; and Travis Tesch (Annette) of Everly and Tanner, McKenzie, Kayla and Paige; siblings: Elmer Bundy of Estherville; Dean Bundy of Garvin, MN; Rose Wheeler (Don) of Balaton, MN; Wilbur Bundy (Gwen) of Spirit Lake; brother-in-law Daryl Blom (Frances) of Northfield, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service werWednesday, September 16, 2015, 1:30 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Manilla, Iowa, with Reverend Ross Fritz officiating.
Music selections were "How Great Thou Art". "Amazing Grace". "This Is My Father's World"
Serving as Casket Bearers were Travis Tesch, John Blom, P.J. Meneough, Ron Vollstedt, Dane Blom, Raine Meneough, Brody Blom and Tanner Tesch.
Interment was at the Nishnabotna Cemetery, near Manilla, Iowa
