COLLEEN BUBKE Obituary

Colleen Kay Bubke was born November 12, 1951, the daughter of Milton and Vera Knapp Morrison.  She died at the Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Friday, January 15, 2010 at the age of 58 with many family members by her side.

Colleen was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa and moved with her family to Pasadena, Texas where she received her high school education, graduating from the Sam Rayburn High School with the class of 1969.  June 11, 1961, she was baptized at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In the mid 80's, she returned to Iowa and settled in Denison where she renewed her faith in Jesus Christ through her baptism at the Pioneer Baptist Church in Denison where she was a member.  She continued her education at Western Iowa Tech in Denison, and received her Associates Degree in Arts and Sciences in 2001.

After completing her education, she followed her heart, as her mother did, and began a 30 year career working with the handicapped at Wesco Industries.

August 18, 2001, Colleen was united in marriage to the love of her life, Leon "Pork" Bubke.  The couple settled in Denison where Colleen was blessed with two wonderful step-sons, Alex and Josh.  She was an avid collector of rooster art and decor.  She enjoyed spending most of her time with her sister, Jolene with whom she lived.  In her leisure time, Colleen enjoyed socializing with family and friends at the casino, going to various concerts, shopping trips and loved to tell stories about those adventures.  She was a very special person to all who knew her and will be especially missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Pork in 2006, her mother the following year and other special loved ones.  Survivors include: her father Milton of Denison, brother, Michael and his wife, Diane of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; two sisters, Jolene of Denison, Janet and her husband, Dennis of Monona, Iowa; two step-sons, Alex and Josh of Spencer, Iowa; many brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral Services were held at 11 A.M., Monday, January 18, 2010 at Faith Wesleyan Church in Denison, Iowa.

Mark Kirby officiated the service and graveside rites held at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Pianist Patricia Kirby and organist Elizabeth Galbraith provided accompaniment for the congregational hymn Amazing Grace, How Sweet The Sound. Serving as pallbearers were Chris Wallace, Steven R. Bubke, Nathan Strom, James Fleming, Mason Schau and Dane Lee.

The family invited everyone to return to the church and join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Faith Wesleyan Ladies. The Huebner Funeral home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
