Fred Clements was born at a very young age in Omaha, NE, on May 16, 1932. He was the fourth son of Sanford and Hattie Clements, and while growing up in Peru, NE, he and his brothers created memories that grew to become larger than life stories we have all enjoyed. He attended Peru State College, fit in a commitment to the Army, and graduated in 1956. During that time, he met and married his sweetheart Marilyn, and together they moved to Dunlap, IA, where he taught music for 10 years. The family then moved to Denison, IA, when Fred transition from education to business, becoming a partner in the Denison Music Company. After retiring in 1987, he continued with his piano technician business, and represented a pipe organ company in sales and service. He also expanded his keen woodworking and restoration skills, rebuilding countless pianos and other instruments for customers throughout the Midwest. His other hobbies included multiple auto restorations, exercising his private pilot's license, following Husker football, and endless domestic projects. Above all, he chose to fill his spare time pursuing his love of music, whether it was participating in a local orchestra or choir, creating music on his keyboard, or attending musical performances.
Fred had a deep love for his Lord Jesus, and he lived his life as a testimony to that love. From leading youth groups, directing choirs in Dunlap and Denison, and volunteering in numerous other capacities, Fred led by example in using his talents for the Lord. Most importantly, that example was evident in his love for family, especially his cherished wife of 59 years, their two children, and their children's families. His servant's attitude, compassion, and sense of humor will be the legacy we cherish…he will be missed immensely.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and one brother John. Survivors include his wife Marilyn; daughter Karen (Jim) Reinders; son Tom (Lori) Clements; brother Dick (Joyce) Clements; brother Art; grandchildren Jenna (Alex) Bishop, Jake Reinders, Daniel Clements, Leanne Clements; great grandson Abram Bishop; and many other relatives and friends.
