Jeffrey Lynn Joens was born November 13, 1957, the son of Clifford and Lois Joens. He died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Manning Hospital, Manning Iowa, at the age of fifty-seven.
Jeff was born and raised in the Manning area, graduating from Manilla High School in 1976. During high school, Jeff worked at Saunders Dairy Farm and as a hired hand for Alan Lorenzen. On February 16, 1999, Jeff was united in marriage to Karen Koch. Jeff was a loyal employee for Aspinwall Co-op for 29 years. He also worked for United Feeds, Arcadia FAC, and drove truck for Steve Koch.
Jeff was a kind, soft hearted, and loving man. In his leisure time he enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, deer hunting, and playing cards. He was also a member of several area clubs. Jeff was happiest when spending time with family and friends, especially Logan and Mason.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lila; one niece, April; two nephews; Davey and Timothy. Survivors include his wife Karen; one son, Daniel and his wife, Taya; two grandchildren; two brothers; Paul and his wife, Diane; Richard and Scott; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Rev Robert Riggert officiated the service and grave site rites held at Hayes Township Cemetery in Westside, Iowa.
Organist Carlys Stribe provided accompaniment for congregational hymns "How Great Thou Art" and " Amazing Grace". A recording of "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban was also played. Serving as honorary pallbearers were
Mike Kloewer, Curtis Grimm, Allen Ehlers, Alan Lorenzen, Larry Justice and Lyle Bald. Pallbearers were Jason Rasmussen, Daryl Hacker, Fred Irlbeck, Alan Kerkhoff, Kenny Rohe and Ryan Webb. The family invited everyone to return to the church and join them for fellowship and lunch. The Huebner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
