Randall Lehrman Obituary
Decatur - Randall Jay Lehrman, 67, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025.
To those privileged enough to know him, Randy's deep love for his friends, family and country was undeniable. He was a reliable, generous man who loved fiercely and lived with extraordinary passion.
Randy began his journey on his family farm as a young man. It was there he learned the values of hard work, consistency, and dedication. Whether it was tending to the fields or caring for one of the family's many German Shepherds named Kelly, Randy took pride in his work and shared countless stories and lessons with those he loved.
As an adult, Randy became a well-known and respected auctioneer, pouring his passion and heart into the career he loved. He also embraced his role as a proud "dance dad," enjoying many years of helping at countless recitals. Randy could fly through the air at a trampoline park or race through an obstacle course with the same energy-sometimes faster than his grandkids trying to keep up with him.
Randy had many talents and hobbies. He enjoyed trading stocks just as much as he enjoyed debating his ideas and positions. He found excitement in both the challenge and the conversation, always bringing his enthusiasm and sharp mind to whatever he pursued. He also had an incredible passion for cooking. Every meal he prepared was a reflection of the love he poured into it, and those fortunate enough to sit at his table know that nothing can ever compare to the warmth and care in his dishes.
Randy leaves behind his beloved fiancée, Renea Wells, with whom he shared a love story that began many years ago at her senior prom. Though life took them on different paths, fate brought them back together to rekindle the deep bond they first discovered as young sweethearts. Their decades-long journey was filled with love, laughter, countless memories, and many hours in the kitchen bringing love and togetherness to those they held dear.
He is survived by his cherished daughter and three young grandsons. Randy embraced his role as a father to his four bonus children: Nicole Ayala, Jennifer Norman, Shaun Hirschy, and Tara Wilson, who brought great joy. Randy's legacy continues through his grandsons and many bonus grandchildren: Alexis Ayala, Mikayla, Madelyn, Zander, and Hudson Norman, Brayden and Maverick Hirschy, Amber, Anna, Cameron, Elijah, Arabella, and Aubrielle Wilson. Each one of them held a special place in his heart and he delighted in being a part of their lives.
He also leaves behind his siblings, Vickie Hammond, 4 brothers; Bob, Perry, Joel & Jon Lehrman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Marilyn R. (Fuelling) Lehrman.
Randy will be remembered for his love of family, friends, his generous spirit, humor, and the way he brought warmth and kindness to all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, who find comfort in knowing his love endures-always and forever, as the irreplaceable Squirrel #1.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with a Memorial Visitation prior to the service from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
