Born on April 9th, 1937, to Harold and Helen
(Rathke) Voreis in La Porte, Indiana, Dick served
in the Navy Reserves after graduating from Griffith
High School in 1955. He spent
most of his life in Decatur, IN later
retiring from NIPSCO after dedicating
38 years to the company.
Dick was preceded in

Voreis. He is survived by his
Wife, Patty (Brewster) Voreis, sister
Sandy (Don) Cleveland, and 3
children: Pam (Bob) Knous, Kim
(Rick) Shannon, and Todd (Janice

Known for his sweet voice, Dick was part of a
barbershop quartet. Alongside his wife, Patty, he
was an enthusiastic traveler, exploring states via
motorcycle and 5th wheel, having visited every
state except Vermont. Their adventures also took
them to various countries, and Dick's storytelling
skills made those experiences come alive for those
around him.
A genuine and caring individual, Dick possessed
the extraordinary ability to make everyone
feel like the most important person in his life. His
interests included NASCAR racing, golfing, reading,
and Jeopardy, and his extensive knowledge
often outshone in trivia. Dick's love for sharing
stories and his zest for life will be fondly remembered
by all who knew him.
