ALBERT BOYD Obituary

Albert Everett

Boyd, Jr.

Age 60, of Claymont, DE, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at the Compassionate Care Unit of St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE, surrounded by his loving family. Born June 17, 1950, he was a son of Albert Boyd, Sr., (deceased) and Renee Leveille Boyd of Chester, PA. Albert grew up in Chester, PA and attended St. James High School, Nether Providence High School, and West Chester University.

Affectionately known as "Skip" and "Brother Al," Albert was a gifted and multi-talented jazz musician who was primarily known for his wizardry of the Hammond organ. Well-known in the tri-state area's music circuit, he made his living as a master piano technician for the last 30 years. He not only had a deep interest in both local and world history, but was a self-professed World War historian. In addition, Al was a proud and active associate member of Delaware Veterans Post #1 in North Wilmington. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and also enjoyed bass fishing.

Al is survived by his spouse, Lynne Boyd of Claymont, DE; daughter, Michelle Boyd Romero of Fort Worth, TX; son, Thomas Boyd of New Holland, PA; daughter, Adrienne Boyd of New Holland, PA, siblings, Barbara Barr, Patricia Opdenaker, Thomas Boyd and Donald Boyd, and grandchildren, Miranda Besecker, Samantha Boyd, Trevor Boyd, Nicholas Romero and Maxwell Boyd. Al is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as close friends and family of Central Florida where he resided between 1987 and 1991.

A service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 from 4-5 pm. The family may be greeted between 3:30 -4pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Al's name to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Speak to Al's daughter, Adrienne, with questions. To express an online condolence, visit www.strano-feeley.com.
