DeFilippis
Age 70, of Gray, TN, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2007.
Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Isidoro and Concetta Barranco DeFilippis. He was a member of the Boones Creek Baptist Church. Mr. DeFilippis enjoyed reading opera and country music, and computers. He also enjoyed knife collecting. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps for 30 years and a Vietnam Veteran. Mr. DeFilippis was a member of the VFW, American Legion, DAV, as well as the Fleet Reserve Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Luigi DeFilippis. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Earlene Mullins DeFilippis, of Gray, TN; 2 sons and spouse, Mark A. DeFilippis, of Athens, GA and Matthew L. and Kelly DeFilippis, of Athens, GA; 3 brothers, Joseph DeFilippis, Isidoro DeFilippis, and John DeFilippis, all of Delaware; several nieces and nephews and an extended amount of family in Italy.
A celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 5, at 8 pm, in the Sunrise chapel of the funeral home, with Reverend Kenneth Kyker, Reverend Arnold "Bud" Pate, and Mr. Richard Street officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm, prior to the service. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 6, at 11 am, in Brookshire Cemetery, Johnson County. Active pallbearers will be Johnny Davis, Lou DeFilippis, Tom, DeFilippis, Louis Manuel Jr., Harold Phillippi, and Roby Phillippi.Honorary pallbearers will be Adult 3 Sunday School Class at Boones Creek Baptist Church. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery on Wednesday, June 6, at 10:50 am.
Memorial donations may be made in Alfonso's name, to the Mountain Home VA Patient TV Fund, PO Box 4000, Mountain Home, TN 37684.
