Barry Baldwin Obituary

Barry J. Baldwin, Jr.

Barry J. Baldwin, age 43, of Wilmington, DE, passed away after a long, courageous battle with Cancer Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Barry was a devoted member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church where he was a third degree Knight of Columbus. He was a very proud American who loved his country and the Constitution. While he was a staunch Conservative, he enjoyed all things political, especially Ronald Reagan. Barry loved John Wayne movies and anything Elvis. He was first and foremost a gentleman which was apparent in all he did. This is the legacy he wanted to leave his boys, the lost art of being a gentleman. But, more than anything, he was happiest at home watching movies and spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Baldwin is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Shannon; two sons, Chris (15) and Alex (11); Mother and step father, Diane and Harold Raymond of Landenberg, PA; father and step mother, Barry and Peggy Baldwin of Newark; brother, John (Janae); 2 sisters, Michelle (Jon) and Holly (Phil); and 9 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Elizabeth F. Baldwin and grandparents, John and Dorothy Esterling.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 9, at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 from 6-8 pm. A Mass will be held 10 am, Thursday, February 10, at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. Burial will be at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to help ensure his children's education to the USAA College Saving Plan - P.O. Box 55354, Boston, MA 02205. Arrangements by

Shannon, how truly saddened I was to hear about Barry. We had such great times back in our banking days. His love for Elvis rubbed off on me. Did you know he changad a flat tire for me in his dress clothes? True gentlemen!! He also wrote a song about me and Pete, he was always singing something or playing air drums. I will never forget him! God bless you and the boys.

Dear Shannon, first and foremost, my thoughts and prayers are with you and the boys, Chris and Alex. Barry was truly always the gentleman and a gentle heart. His kind spirit always put you at ease and made it easy to work with him. My time knowing him was short, but I will enjoy some fun memories we shared together at work listening to his stories and hearing him proudly talk about his family. He will be greatly missed by all. May God Bless and Keep You. Tracy Perkins (Wilmington,DE)

Dear Shannon and boys,

We are so very sorry to hear of Barry's passing. May you find comfort in the arms of your sons and the wonderful memories you share of Barry. He was a wonderful, faith filled man and certainly will be missed but never forgotten. We were so touched when he was reaching out to us during Jim's double lung transplant. We are sorry we cannot be there for the services, but look forward to seeing you and the boys soon. Take care and God bless - Jim, Christine, and Colleen Cavanagh (Oneida, NY)

My thoughts and heart go out to you Shannon and your kids. I always enjoyed working with Barry and quickly realized how good of a person he was and how big of a heart he had. He was a good friend and always had a smile on his face, especially when we would talk about guitars and music. He will be forever missed...

Shannon, I am so sorry to hear of Barry's death. I just found out that you are Rusty Abbott's sister; he is a good friend of my brother-in-law Jim Camilli. You may not remember me but we did the Relay for Life together years ago; my daughters' friend Elizabeth Rada lost her battle to bone cancer in October 2010. I am so sorry to hear another good life has been lost to this horrible disease. Blessings and peace to you and your family in this difficult time.
