Age 79, of Hockessin, DE died Thursday, December 15, 2005 in the Christiana Hospital. He was the husband of Marie Santercole Repka, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in Buffalo, NY he was a Research Associate at the Hercules Research Center in Wilmington. He worked in succession as Project Leader in polypropylene research and development, Patent Coordinator, and Manager of New Technology Acquisition. He retired in 1989 after 33 years. Dr. Repka earned BS and MS Degrees from Canisius College in Buffalo and PhD in physical organic chemistry from Purdue University. He was active in the Delaware Section of the American Chemical Society and served as Section Chairman in 1972 and as a Councilor to the National Society for many years.
Dr. Repka was a longstanding member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Hockessin. He was a member of the church's first parish council and was very proud to serve there as a lector for almost 40 years. He was also a member of the Delaware National Club (formerly Hercules Country Club), was an avid tennis player there, and held a number of club tennis championships.
In addition to his wife Marie, he is survived by his sons, Dr. Michael X. Repka of Baltimore, MD, Dr. Mark L. Repka of Annapolis, MD, David A. Repka of Bethesda, MD, and Daniel F. Repka of Hockessin, DE; his 4 loving daughters-in-law, Dr. Mary Anne Facciolo (Michael), Irene (Mark), Janet (David), and Denise (Daniel); his 9 grandchildren, Michael, Lindsay, Erik, Kelsey, Matthew, Marisa, Daniel, Kelly, and David, and his sister, Rose Braun of Port Richey, FL.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at 11:30 am, where friends may visit in the church after 10 am. Burial will be in S. Patrick's Cemetery Ashland, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 NW 9th Avenue, Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
