Catherine Margaret Manning Moran, RN.C, passed quietly in her home, on September 1, 2014. Born in New York, in 1937 to the late Daniel P. Manning and Margaret E. Walsh and raised in Astoria, Queens. Catherine was a gifted Soprano, who was active in community and church choirs throughout her life. After graduating from Bp. McDonnell H.S., she worked in Radiology. Catherine was active in the New York Civil Air Patrol, achieving the rank of Captain.

Married in 1958, she relocated to Wilmington, DE in 1969, where she was a homemaker, wife and loving mother to 5 children. Mrs. Moran was active in The Catholic Daughters of America, Boys Scouts/Girl Scouts, as well as Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, where her children attended school.

Mrs. Moran graduated from Delaware Tech. in 1981, with an associate's degree in Nursing. She found her calling in gerontology and spent most of her career in long-term care. Catherine was an avid reader who loved animals, Broadway Musicals, bingo and trivia. Her kindness, caring and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Sean Moran, his wife, Lisa and grandchildren, Nichole, Mairi, and Deaglan, of Wilmington; her son, Daniel Moran of New Castle; daughter, Ellen Manning and fiancé, John J. Thomas and grandchildren, Riley and Catherine of Wilmington. She was preceded by her son, Michael and is survived by his widow, Alison, also of Wilmington.

A memorial mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike Claymont, DE 19703. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, 11 AM. Visitation beginning at 10am, luncheon to follow. Interment at All Saints Cemetery in Pike Creek, 2:45PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of America.
