Catherine Sahm Obituary
Catherine K. Sahm, 79, passed away on July 1, 2016 at Christiana Hospital.
A native of Wilmington, Delaware, she was born in 1936 to Edmund J. and Rose Kehnast (née Massey). Catherine graduated from St. Elizabeth High School and received an associate's degree from Goldey-Beacom College. From 1954 until 1963 she worked as a secretary for the E. I. DuPont de Nemours and Company where she met her husband. A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, Catherine was always volunteering or in some way serving her family and community. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and its Social Ministry Outreach Program. Catherine was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marie Burke. Catherine is survived by her husband of 53 years, William J. Sahm, her children, William J. Sahm, Jr., James M. Sahm (Anne) and Katherine A. Sahm, and her grandson Daniel J. Sahm.
Friends may call on Wednesday, July 6th, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike (Rt. 202 South of Silverside Road) Wilmington, DE 19803. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 7th at 11a.m. with a viewing preceding Mass beginning at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial will be in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Outreach Program or Faithful Friends, 12-A Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804.
