"Chilo"

Charles Paul Staub, age 90, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013.

Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Paul and Mary Staub.

Charles graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High Scholl in 1940. As many young boys of his era, he served his country in World War II. He was inducted in the U.S. Army in December 1942 and served with the 11th Airborne Division, 511th Parachute Regiment. Charles participated in the liberation of the Philippines and received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars. After attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and Squad Leader, Charles was honorably discharged in November 1945 and attended Muhlenberg College graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in 1949. He relocated to Wilmington, Delaware, in the early fifties and was employed as an accountant with the E.I. DuPont Company until he retired in 1985.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elise K. Staub; son James Staub (Carol) of Bear and daughter Janet Fraatz (Rick) of Wilmington; 2 grandchildren, Brenda Rabeno (Dave) and Michael Fraatz and his girlfriend Gina; 2 great-grandchildren, Emma Rabeno and Jack Rabeno; 2 step-grandchildren, Cherish Poole and Kristie Donelson and his 2 sisters; Irene Fritz and Helen Lapp. Charles is predeceased by his 3 sisters; Mary Doddy, Theresa Marth, and Elizabeth Schaffer and 2 brothers, Paul Jr. and John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 4, at 11am, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Rd, Wilmington, DE, where friends may call after 10am. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Charles' name to the Delaware Association for the Blind, 2915 Newport Gap Pike, Landis Lodge Building, Wilmington, DE 19808.
