Born in Penns Grove, NJ to Filippo and Rosina (Carboni) Gagliardi, Dan received an honorable discharge from the 44th Quarter Master Company of the US Army in July 1943. After serving in World War II, Dan worked for the DuPont Company and retired in 1977 after 39 years of service. Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, son-in-law and friend. His greatest joys included spending time with his family, working in his yard and garden, creating stained glass objects, and playing cards with his family. Everyone that knew Dan love him; he was a king and gentle man.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his brother, Adam Gagliardi; and his sisters, Prudence Federici and Virginia Mangiocco. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 59 years, Aileen K. Gagliardi; 3 daughters, Florence Ann Jaros and her husband, Gary, of Newark, DE, Rosalie V. Gagliardi of New Castle, DE, Danielle G. Morrison and her husband, Michael, of Bear, DE; and 2 sons, Daniel L. Gagliardi, Jr. of Middletown, DE and Robert F. Gagliardi of Pennsville, NJ. "Jr" Gagliardi, Jr., Sarah Rachel Morrison, Lisa Gagliardi, David Gagliardi and Angela Gagliardi; 2 great grandchildren, Royce Daniel Gaudet and Sarah Morgan Gaudet; and 1 step grandson, Steven Jaros. Dan is also survived by his brother, Philip Gagliardi, Jr.; 2 sisters, Ellen Funaro and Jean Canizzaro; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends may call from 9-11 am on Friday morning, October 21, 2005, at St. James RC Church, Beach Ave., Penns Grove, NJ, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am. Interment will be in the Veteran's Cemetery in Woodstown, NJ.
