Daryl Christopher Devlin

AGE: 32 • Claymont

Daryl C. Devlin, age 32, died at home on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. He is now in complete peace with the Lord.

Daryl graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 2002. He worked for many years at the Elwyn Institute, where he met the love of his life Michelle. Most recently he worked for the US Postal Service. Anyone who knew Daryl knew his extreme passion for music. He was a talented musician who played guitar in several bands and was a talented songwriter. Daryl also enjoyed reading, movies, photography and spending time with his friends.

Daryl was predeceased by his maternal grandmothers Nancy Devlin and Sylvia Devlin. He is survived by his mother Terri Devlin, maternal grandfather Edward Devlin, uncles Dennis Devlin and Barry Devlin (Kimberly), aunts Kelly Devlin (Chris Brown) and Kim Phillips (Kane), cousins Colin and Lizzie Brown, Lauren and William Phillips, and the extended Devlin family.

Daryl is also survived by his father Gerard McKnight (Dielita), siblings Ayanna and Jabari McKnight, and paternal grandparents James and Barbara McKnight.

Daryl's girlfriend, Michelle Sullivan, and her children, Jared, Logan, and Kayla, also survive him.

A viewing will be held Sunday, January 8 from 6-8 pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 where overflow parking will be available at the Brandywine YMCA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered the following day, Monday, January 9 at 11 am at Saint Mary Magdalen, 7 Sharpley Rd., Wilmington, DE. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Daryl's name to NAMI DE, 2400 W. 4th St., Wilmington, DE 19805.

Dear Teri, I am so saddened by this news...I haven't seen Daryl in many years, but remember him as one of Marla's good childhood friends. She has lost too many. My thoughts are with you at this very difficult time.

Darryl, was a neighbor of mine when I lived there next door. I remember he was always religious on cleaning out his car and keeping it clean, as well as hearing him play music in his house, the drums beating you could hear it in our house as they were joined together. He always had a smile on his face, appeared happy as much as he could allow himself to be. This put a shock to me when I heard he had passed, but now he can rest easy up in heaven with all the other angels to look over us. Terry I am so sorry for your loss.
