David Bransfield Obituary

David Bransfield

Hockessin, DE - David (Dave to family and friends) Bransfield, age 63, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of April 14, 2021 at Seasons Hospice with his wife by his side. He was born in Hartford, CT in 1957 and spent his childhood and early adult years first in Enfield, CT and then Newington, CT, graduating from Newington High School in 1976. In 1987, mutual friends introduced Dave to Janet, and they married in 1991. Her job with one of the DuPont companies brought them to this area and they have lived in Hockessin since 1997.

Dave spent his entire career working in the field of electronics and electronic assembly. For the last 12 years, he had been employed at Ametek in Newark, DE as a Custom Instrument Assembler in the manufacture of gas analyzers. He got a lot of satisfaction from his job and appreciated the many co-workers there who became his friends.

Dave enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, golfing, wood working, hiking, reading novels by Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler, Dean Koontz, etc., and just relaxing at home. Sidelined for a while by kidney disease requiring dialysis, he got a new lease on life four and a half years ago with a kidney transplant. Dave was then able to travel again, visiting family in FL, some of our National Parks and other places of interest.

Dave was pre-deceased by his parents, Richard and June Bransfield, his parents-in-law George and Lillian Reindl and his grand-niece Julia Amaral. He is survived by Janet, his wife of almost 30 years, his sister Judi (Joe) Amaral of Boynton Beach, FL, and his entire extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law and 12 nieces and nephews, all of whom he cherished as if they were his own.

His wife would like to thank Dr. Stephanie Gilibert for the outstanding medical care, and the human caring, that she provided to Dave over the years. Thanks also to the staff at the Christiana Care Transplant Service and all of the other physicians and healthcare professionals who had a part in Dave's journey along the way. Janet would also like to extend gratitude to the many people in their lives who have provided support and comfort at this time.

In remembrance of Dave, please consider a donation to either the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidneyfund.org) or any one of our National Parks (www.nationalparks.org).

A Celebration of Life for Dave will be held at a future date.
