David Cannavo Obituary
- - On Sun, Dec. 30th 2018 David Cannavo, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 63.
Dave was born on August 29th, 1955 to Frank and Sally Cannavo.
He was known for his love of aviation and family. He was an expert pilot and aircraft mechanic, the only MiG-23 qualified pilot in the U.S. His most cherished career accomplishment was building a true replica of the "Spirit of St.Louis". He worked with his father until he opened his own businesses, Aero Enterprises & Red Eagle Avionics. Member Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame. Dave was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; Nancy, his three children; Kelly Ridall (Dan), David Cannavo the 2nd (fiancé Jessica), and Cherie, his grandchildren; Adam, Emily, Danny, Dana, and Shane, brother Steven (Amy), nephews; Frank, Louis and Daniel. A memorial service will be held at 1 Dales Way, New Castle DE, 19720 on Sunday, February 3rd at 1pm. Please RSVP to [email protected] or 302-383-4555

David Paul Cannavo is a great man of many exceptional talents who taught me a great deal about aerospace and becoming a true aerospace cowboy as he showed me a world of aerospace that I have never known to exist.
David and built and exact replica of the Spirit of St Louis in every detail down to exact placement of every feature.
David built the fastest aircraft to win the Reno air races, developing a winglet that pushed these aircraft to their highest performance and installing high performance engines and avionics packages.
David is one of the fastest pilots in the USA qualified in the MIG 23 and many other type aircraft.
David is a true friend and aerospace professional associate.
Thank you David Paul Cannavo for all that you enriched my life with everything that you are.
You will always be loved and admired.
