Donald Dzedzy, 83, known affectionately as Dez, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2016.

Born in Chester, PA to Peter and Catherine Dzedzy, he lived most of his life in Wilmington, DE with his wife of nearly 53 years, Vicki.

Dez was a nature lover who was passionate about his garden and was an avid fisherman. He worked as an engineer and was also a skilled craftsman who spent many happy hours in his woodworking shop building projects for his home and garden and for anyone else who simply asked. He was a generous man who was quick to help those in his path and often became a "surrogate dad" for people in his life who looked up to him.

He took great pleasure in spending time with his family and friends and was a devoted husband to Vicki with whom he enjoyed traveling and volunteering at the Brandywine River Museum.

Dez was a loving father to his children, Dawn Dzedzy and husband Michael Webb of San Francisco, Joelle Dzedzy and husband Peter Kawa of Avon, CT and Dan Dzedzy of Lewes, DE. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Derek, Jason, Alex, Maxwell, Gisele and Jackson.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, September 4 starting at 2:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE with service to follow at 3:00 PM.
