Edwin Forrest Booth, Jr,

Of Long Neck, DE, formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away at the Hospice Center in Milford, DE on January 7, 2013. He was 89 years old. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1946. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School, Class of 1/1941, where he served as President in his Senior Year. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Oak Orchard, Riverdale post No. 28, Millsboro, DE.

After his honorary discharge from the Military in 1946, He returned to his pre-war employment with the Benjamin F. Shaw Co. in Wilmington to continue his career which spanned a period of 30 years. He held several positions with Shaw Co. and in 1968 was assigned the duties of Vice-President, a position he held until his retirement in 1978.

He moved to Sussex County in 1978, worked for a short time at Delmarva Power Indian River Plant, and more recently was employed by the J.W. Stewart Co. from 1987 to 1988 as Quality Control Manager of ASME Code Work and Technical Sales Manager.

After retiring to Sussex County in 1978, Ed enjoyed many great years of boating, fishing, crabbing and of course dancing with his lover Doris.

He is preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey W. Booth who passed away in 1973; he was almost 16 years old.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Doris D. Booth, 3 Sons, Edwin F. Booth, III of Millsboro, DE, Robert Booth of Bear, DE, 2 daughters, Lynda Sparks and her husband Paul of Lewes,DE; Kimberly Zionkowski of Elkton, Md now living in Chicago, IL; brothers, John Booth and wife Marsha, Jim Booth and wife Jean. In addition he is survived by five step-children, Peter McCaffrey of Milton, DE, Karen McCaffrey of Long Neck, DE, Connie Baker and husband Paul of Georgetown, DE, Christine Welsh and Husband John of Millsboro, DE, Teresa McCaffrey of Alexandria, VA. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

To all who read my obit- thank you for being a part of my life. You made me very proud to have loved and be a part of your life. Take care and love everyone the way you loved me.

A celebration of Ed's life will be held at 12:30 P.M. On Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call after 10:30 A.M. Burial with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
