An amazing man, friend, husband, father and grandfather. He and Judy were like my 2nd parents. I found them a home down the street from me and enjoyed many great meals at their house. They even let my dogs come to dinner. Ernie was an amazing cook and was always ready to pour another glass of wine. When he wasn't cooking for me, he and Judy introduced me to Dim Sum down on Buford Highway and many other really cool places. When they moved to Savannah and I visited them, we spent a lot of time at Tybee Island and as usual, good food--in and out--and of course more wine. I loved and now miss him very much. Missing Judy too as she moved to be with her son and granddaughter. To far away for a visit. Ernie is a bright start in the sky now.

Ernie was my dad away from my dad and I think I was the daughter he never had. He was good and kind and I loved him very much. I will miss him like crazy!

My mother Phyllis S. Goodwin worked with Ernie at Hercules. She remembers his musical skills and great sense of humor. Whenever she hears band music she thinks of Ernie.

Ernie was a colleague at Henkel in Minneapolis many years ago. We were delighted when he and Ron Richmond drove from Savannah in September 2013 to attend our annual Henkel/GMI Brunch; what a delight and honor their presence was and a time to renew friendships. Ernie was a true scientist and friend during his MN career. May the many memories and your Christian faith uphold you all during this difficult time.
