Floyd Blessing Obituary

Floyd K. Blessing, Sr.

Of Houston, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 86. Floyd was born on April 8, 1927 in Vernon, DE, son of the late William and Florence (Morgan) Blessing. Mr. Blessing spent his life doing what he loved most, farming. He owned and operated Tantrough Farms, along with his brother, Maurice. He also owned and operated Blair View Farm, a Tilapia aquaculture operation. He was inducted into the Delaware 4H Hall of Fame, was one of the founders and a former Board Member of the Delaware 4H Foundation, a Board Member of Southern States Milford, a Board Member and past Chairman of the Board of Southern States Richmond, a Board Member of Delaware Farm Credit, a former Board Member of Milford Grain, and was currently on the Board of Directors of the Delaware State Fair.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Blessing was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Schmick) Blessing, a son, Henry Wade Blessing, and two brothers, Russell Blessing and William Blessing, Jr. He is survived by two sons, Kenny Blessing and his wife Sherry of Milford; Joel Blessing and his fiancée Carol Ann Wilkins of Milford; a daughter, Carol Argo of Houston; five grandchildren, R. Samuel Argo, Jr. and his wife Rebecca, Nicholas Argo, Eric Blessing and his wife Jeannine, Justin Blessing, and Dustin Wilkins and his wife Tina; five great-grandchildren, Luke Blessing, Elizabeth Blessing, Aurora Henderson, Khailer Hitchens, and Madisyn Hitchens; and several nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be private. The family has requested contributions in Floyd's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE, 19963; Delaware 4H Foundation, 113 Townsend Hall, 531 South College Ave., Newark, DE, 19716; or Lincoln United Methodist Church, Dental Mission Fund, PO Box 85, Lincoln, DE, 19960.
