Frank FUSCO Obituary
Frank N. Fusco Frank "Frankie Ritter" Fusco, age 83 of Wilmington, DE passed away Friday morning, October 5, 2001, at home with his family. Frank was born in Wilmington's Little Italy April 18, 1928 to the late Luigi and Anna (DeSento) Fusco. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served our country during World War II as an electrician's mate and was awarded the American Theatre of War, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and the Philippine Liberation medals. He also participated in the laying of concrete for the USS Arizona war memorial in Pearl Harbor. Frank was employed as a carpet installer for B. Ritter Furniture for 25 years, and later co-owned Acme Carpeting co. with his partner, Carmen Zambeno, retiring in 1983. An avid golfer, he volunteered at the LPGA tournament at the DuPont Country Club and was also a volunteer at St. Anthony's senior center and St. Anthony's Italian Festival. He was a former member of St. Anthony's Catholic Club and St. Anthony's bowling league. In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his brothers, Nicholas, Peter, John, Henry and Anthony; and his sisters, Louise Leininger, Ann DeNest, Angeline Lardear and Molly D'Aloise. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Florence (Johnson) Fusco; his daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Robert Lenneith of Big Pool, MD, Frances and Gerald Truby of Newark, DE and Leslye Fusco-Ruth and Timothy Ruth of Newark, DE. His sister, Linda Wierzbicki of Hockessin, DE; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 9th & DuPont Sts. on Tuesday morning, October 9 at 11:30 am, where family and friends may call from 10-11:15 am. Interment will follow the mass in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Frank's memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 623 W.
