Frank Rutledge Obituary
AGE: 64 • Newark
Frank G. Rutledge, Jr. born July 5, 1949, passed away on December 21, 2013, at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in Aspenwall, PA and graduated from Gateway High School and also attended Goldey Beacom College. He entered the Air Force and served four years, including one year in Vietnam where he earned several medals, including Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Medal.
After an honorable discharge, Frank moved to Delaware and married his fiancée, Janet, his wife and best friend of 42 years. He retired as a Supervisor from Formosa Plastics. Prior to that, Frank worked at Gates Engineering as a Production Manager.
Frank loved being with his family and also enjoyed fishing, hiking, hunting, archery, and his beloved Steelers. Predeceased by his father Frank Sr., he is survived by his wife Janet, son Dr. Jeffrey Rutledge and his wife Dr. Jane Rutledge, his grandson Ryder, his mother Nellie, sisters Bonnie, Becky (Steve), David (Sharon), Matt (Connie), brother-in-law Bill Walukonis (Gail), and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road Newark, DE 19713 on Friday, December 27th at 12:30PM. Visitation will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road Pike Creek on Friday morning from 10:30AM to 12PM. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank may be sent to Holy Family Church.

Janet and Jeff I wanted to let you know how truely sorry we are to hear about Frank I know how bad his health had been seeing you in church but its still a shock, Dad, Lexi and I will miss him dearly he was a extremely likable person and a great husband and father everybody who knew him was lucky to have had such a great friend my thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family.....if there is anything just as you have so freely offered to me that I can do pleae let me know

Dr Rutledge and Mrs Janet...I'm keeping u in my thoughts n prayers during this difficult time...Mr Rutledge surely will be missed as I assisted with Dr Rutledge during his dads visit at our dental office. He was a great person!
