Franklin BIGGS Obituary

Franklin B. Biggs Of Middletown, DE passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at home. Mr. Biggs was born in Middletown on August 26, 1916, son of the late J. Frank and Emma L. Biggs. He attended the Middletown Academy, The Mercersberg Academy in PA, and graduated from the Wilmington Friends School in 1935 and the University of Virginia's School of Commerce in 1940. He worked for the Hercules Powder Co. during WWII and then took up real estate and farming, mainly raising beef cattle. Mr. Biggs enjoyed collecting American paintings and antiques. In later years, he owned and managed commercial real estate properties in FL's panhandle region. He suffered a massive stroke on January 26, 2002, but recovered amazingly well with strong determination and a positive spirit. Mr. Biggs was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Middletown. He will be remembered as a man of wit and humor. His brother, Sewell C. Biggs, died on January 16, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Alice B. Biggs. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 18th, at 11 am in "Old" St. Anne's Episcopal Church located on South Broad Street (Rt.71) and St. Anne's Church Rd. in Middletown. Interment will be held privately. Contributions in Mr. Biggs memory may be made to "Old" St. Anne's Episcopal Church, PO Box 421, Middletown, DE 19709.
