Harry W. Doukakis Age 69, died Saturday, September 18, 2004, surrounded by his loving wife and 3 daughters. He was born in Homestead, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh, but lived most of his life in Wilmington, DE. Harry retired from Thiokol Chemical Corporation, Elkton, MD, in 1998 after 37 years of service. As the Manager of New Business Development, he was responsible for numerous marketing successes for Thiokol's propulsion products. He also worked on Mercury, Gemini, Saturn and Reagan's Star Wars space programs. Prior to joining Thiokol, Harry served in the U.S. Army's Scientific and Professional Program out of Huntsville, AL. Harry graduated from Munhall High School in 1953, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie-Mellon) in 1957 and received an MBA degree from the University of Delaware. Harry was involved in many organizations including the Hellenic University Club, AHEPA, Adelphia Club and the Republican Conservative Caucus of Delaware. He has been an active member of his church, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, which he loved and supported. Although he lived most of his life in DE, he was devoted to his Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the "Steelers". Harry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Helen Liacouras Doukakis; and 3 daughters, their husbands and 3 grandchildren, Margaret E. Worrall and her husband, Todd and 2 sons, Matthew and Connor, from Landenberg, PA, Andrea Niki Koutures and her husband, Chris and daughter, Mary, from Orange, CA, Eleni D. Flanagan and her husband, Rick, from Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alex and Elaine Liacouras and their children, Peter and Andrea; and his sister-in-law, Joan Doukakis and her children, Heather, Greg and Marc. He was well loved by his many friends. A viewing will be held at 10 am with funeral service to follow at 11 am on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 808 North Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19806.
