Harry H. Isaacs, Sr., of Milton, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009 in his home. He was 92.
Mr. Isaacs was born in Prime Hook Neck, son of the late John S. and Mary (Lofland) Isaacs and was a life-long resident of Sussex County. Mr. Isaacs had headed several family corporations and was associated with agriculture until retirement. He served as Director of the former First National Bank of Milford and was responsible with their merger with Wilmington Trust. After the merger, he was offered a seat on the main board in Wilmington. Mr. Isaacs was Tree Farmer of the Year in 1976 and in 1964 was a State of Delaware Ag representative to Russia. He attended 5 schools: Prime Hook, Broadkill, Lewes, Georgetown and graduated from Milton in 1936. He was a member of Goshen U.M. Church and was past member of the Board of Trustees. He was also a member of DE Farm Bureau and the Million Dollar Club of Ralston Purina and Beacom Feed Companies.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Lingo) Isaacs, in 2006; a sister, Dorothy Hall and 2 brothers, Howard and Earle Isaacs. He is survived by 2 children, Harry H. "Hobby" Isaacs, Jr. and wife Teresa, of Ellendale and Sara Kay Phillips and husband Robert, of Milford; 4 grandchildren: Harry H. "Trey" Isaacs, III, of Ellendale, Thomas B. Isaacs, of Milton, Marlyn French, of Lewes and Lisa Brown, of Milford and 5 great grandchildren: Jackson Isaacs, Gavin Isaacs, Ethan Isaacs, Erin Brown and Christopher Brown.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 1pm in the chapel of SHORT FUNERAL SERVICES, 416 Federal Street, Milton where friends may call after 11am. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.
Instead of flowers, Mr. Isaacs had requested contributions be made to: Compassionate Care Hospice, 31038 Country Garden Blvd, Suite D 2, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
