Helen Leathem Obituary
AGE: 87 •
Helen Mae Leathem, age 87, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on December 11, 2014 surrounded by her family. Helen attended Wilmington HS and Goldey-Beacom College. Helen started her career with Delaware Power and Light, and later worked for Atlas Powder, finishing her career as an executive secretary with Hercules. She was an active member of Sellers Senior Center for over 30 years. In her spare time, Helen enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her friends at the senior center.
Helen was predeceased by her husband John N. "Jack" Leathem in 2005. She is survived by her children, John S. Leathem and his wife Dottie, and Donna J. Blank and her husband Joseph; granddaughter, Heather Leathem; and great-grandsons, Patrick and Kyle Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 18 at 11 am at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 where friends are invited to call after 10 am. Burial will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Helen's name be made to the Sellers Senior Center, 500 Duncan Rd., Wilmington, DE 19809. www.mccreryandharra.com

To Helen's Family: So sorry to hear of your loss. We spent time together at JCP when I cut her hair. She was a neat lady with quite a sense of humor. She spoke very highly of her family and what good care you took of her especially recently. I always looked forward to our "visits" and will miss her. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so sorry to hear about Helen's passing. She was a wonderful woman and I enjoyed my time with her every month. Even though she always cleaned up before I got there! I'm going to miss her!!!
