Age 82, of Hockessin, DE died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on March 13, 2010, after a courageous struggle with ALS. Dr. Gispert, a native of Camaguey, Cuba emigrated to the United States in 1964 with his family fleeing communist Cuba. After practicing dentistry for 43 years, he retired in 2001. He was a graduate of Havana University and Dental School and of Temple Dental School. His family was the focus of his life and he enjoyed traveling throughout the world, playing the piano and gardening.
Dr. Gispert is survived by his wife, Daisy, of 54 years; his sons: Dr. Ignacio V. Gispert and his wife, Mary, and Robert J. Gispert and his wife, Michele all of Hockessin; his grandchildren: Jessica Hankins, Angela, Emily, Sarah, Robby, Rebecca, Stephanie, Benjamin and Andrew; sisters, Raquel Pijuan of Miami, FL and Aida Argain of Hockessin; and many nieces and ephews. Preceded in death by his son, Javier O. Gispert; brother Jose Gispert and parents, Ignacio and Maria Gispert.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 17th at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek from 9-10:30 am followed by a funeral Mass at 11am at St. Catherine of Siena, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810 and the ALS Association, 321 Norristown Rd., Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002.
